Techtonics is about helping organisations improve productivity.
We specialise in doing this through delivering better information management and optimised infrastructure.
There is a lot of talk about productivity around - whether it’s private or public sector - many businesses/agencies have the need to do what they’re doing now (or even more) with less.
In Techtonics we talk about Information Powering Productivity. That’s about getting the right information at the right time in the right place to or for the right people. Efficiently, securely, and cost effectively.
It’s all been said before, but our experience is that it is not well mastered by many.
Many businesses/agencies have all the technology in place to do this. What we see though is that the real opportunity for productivity improvements lies with better management.
- Information management.
- Infrastructure management.
A sophisticated information management system can only do so much if it resides on a poorly managed/architected infrastructure.
That’s why Techtonics has a dedicated professional services practice that is focused on helping business optimise their IT infrastructures to improve productivity.
We begin with a look at your existing environment together with your requirements for that environment.
We look for productivity improvements - these can be in speed, reliability, security, backup and DR, overall cost effectiveness (we’re vendor independent), and, most importantly, the management of all the above.
Often, organisations have the latest advances in IS infrastructure - network, servers, desktop/client technology, but are woefully short of proactive, effective, productive management of all that technology and the way it is used.
So, Techtonics is offering IS Productivity Improvement solutions that allow better management of existing resources, to help improve productivity.
Over the next 12 months, we’ll be launching a suite of Productivity point solutions for IS infrastructures - all designed to support better management of existing resources and, for our IM clients - optimised for information management and storage as well.
Right now, I wanted to explain two of them that we believe can really make a difference to your bottom line.
1. Power Management.
The proposition? Save between $8 and $15 per month per user in power consumption, for an outlay of $5 per user per month.
Configure your business rules and policies around network attached desktop usage and your organisation will no longer be paying for power to keep desktops idling overnight and/or on weekends. And, arrive at the office the next day with your desktop up and running and ready to go (subject to your security policies).
Techtonics has partnered with Greenkeeper Systems to bring a locally developed and fully supported policy based power management system to the market. We are using it internally in Techtonics right now. So, contact your account manager for a no obligation assessment of your desktop business rules so that we can confirm that desktop power management is right for you.
2. Enterprise Mobile Device Management (EMDM).
Do you have smart mobile devices in your user base? Or want to but your business rules/policies require strict management?
EMDM allows your organisation to manage iphones, ipads, blackberries, as if they were client devices attached to your network. You can manage device and data security, enforce policies centrally, enroll and configure devices over the air, restrict access to non productive features, proactively monitor from a central console, and much more.
Techtonics is about to launch a fully managed service that will allow organisations to either manage their own mobile devices, or outsource the management of that to us, all for a per month per device fee. Check out the underlying technology at www.air-watch.com.
Again, contact your account manager for more information and an assessment on how this best works for your users with smart mobile devices.
Everyone in Techtonics has an iphone. We all have access to our enterprise exchange environment with mail, contacts, calendar etc as well as iphone access to our job management/timesheeting systems and more. Our iphones are also used as handsets whilst we’re in the office, wireless linked to our IP telephony system.
We’ve implemented airwatch internally as well and we’re starting to see the benefits of managing our smart devices centrally according to our policies and business rules. It really makes a difference.
These are just two of a suite of infrastructure productivity improvement services that we now have on offer.
We roll out and trial internally before we offer the services to clients. That way, we’ve learnt from our own doing as well as realised the results - so that when we approach our clients, we’re talking facts from real experiences. Really important when introducing new initiatives, we believe.
Policy based power management. Enterprise mobile device management. Two new subscription-based IS productivity services from Techtonics. More to come....
